School Calendar

Speegle - Eighth Grade English

All classes will be reading novels throughout the year. The first novel that we are reading is

Where the Lilies Bloom. Students should purchase a copy of this book by the second week

of school. The Bookshelf (located beside the Cullman Times) is a good place to find the books

that we will be reading. It is important for students to keep up with their reading assignments

because they will have a test on 2-3 chapters of the novel each Friday. The book for all classes

for the third 9 weeks is The Devil`s Arithmetic.  It is a very good story about the Holocaust.

For the second nine weeks, periods 1 and 3 will be reading To Kill a Mockingbird. Periods 2, 5, and 6 will be reading Alabama Moon. Some copies are available in the library. Otherwise, Deb`s bookstore or The Bookshelf will have copies at a reasonable
price. Tests will continue to be on Fridays.
